LANCK Telecom, a Russian-based company sought a name for their soon-to-launch phone app that allowed users to keep their existing phone number while making international calls. The client preferred a name with no more than two syllables. Yolla suggests “yo”—slang for “hi” or “hey”. It also evokes “ola”, which aurally suggests the international pronunciation of “hello”.
