IFD came to River + Wolf in need of a name for a new sensor that detects when the internal temperature of a distribution transformer rises to extreme levels. The new sensor fulfills this crucial task by creating a visual alert and calling attention to transformers operating beyond designated temperature ranges. As the IFD team was open to all kinds of names, we developed names inspired by mythological, all-seeing creatures to ones that more directly conveyed the sensor’s function. Ultimately, the team opted for TempPatrol, a name that captured the sensor’s core function in a fun and musically memorable way.
